| Nachdem Laser 558 als Folge der Eurosiege-Aktion des britischen DTI und andererer widriger Umstände aufgeben mußte landete das Sendeschiff, die MV Communicator, in der Nähe von Harwich im Fluß Stour. Auf der anderen Flußseite, von Ewarton aus, konnte man das nördliche Flußufer nach längerem Fußmarsch über einen öffentlichen Wanderweg erreichen. Da ich bislang keine Möglichkeit hatte das Schiff auf hoher See zu fotografieren wollte ich wenigstens diese Gelegenheit warnehmen. So nutzte ich denn einen Urlaubstag und verbrachte mehrere Stunden damit diesen unzugänglichen und verkehrstechnisch schlecht erschlossenen Teil Englands zu erreichen. Es folgte der schon erwähnte längere Fußmarsch aber zur Belohnung riß bei meiner Ankunft am Flußufer wenigstes die Wolkendecke auf und bescherte mir sonniges Fotografierwetter. Im Laufe der Stunden drehte sich die MV Communicator mit Ebbe und Flut, so dass ich das in einiger Entfernung in der Flußmitte verankerte Schiff sogar aus verschiedenen Ansichten ablichten konnte.
| Following the British DTI Eurosiege action and other setbacks Laser 558 had to give up. The radioship MV Communicator ended up in the river Stour, at an anchorage near Harwich. At the opposite side of the river, from Ewarton, following a public footpath the northern riverbank could be reached after some time. As I had had no chance yet to take photographs of the ship on the high seas I wanted to seize this opportunity. I spend a day of my holidays to reach this remote part of England. Narrow country roads and the already mentioned footpath finally brought me to the riverbank. As a reward the clouds opened and the sun supplied good light for photographs. In the course of several hours the tide turned the ship round. Thus I could take photographs from various angles of the MV Communicator lying some distance away in the middle of the river.
